NSW Rural Fire Service
- Why did you turn to elearning?
The main driver of introducing elearning into RFS was being able to provide more flexible membership. As a volunteer organisation, our key issues were reach and retention, and keeping numbers in the service. Underpinning a need for flexible membership is flexible training and up until recently, our training has primarily been face-to-face. However, our courses are 25-40% theory which could potentially have been done online. We also needed to deal with the fact that in other vocational training sectors online training has become an expectation.
The traditional bush firefighter course for RFS took all weekend. If learners could do their theory and preparation online, then we might be able to knock the course over in a day and a half. So that’s time saving for everyone. Plus, coming into the course learners would be more familiar with the content because they’ve been exposed to it in the online version.
What our clients say
Our project with Savv-e was the first e-learning content to be rolled out in our firm. The project was completed within a short amount of time and was well received by partners and staff. I look forward to working with Savv-e in the future to build more of these effective learning tools. ~ Carol Berliner, Projects Training Manager, Blake Dawson
I highly recommend using an elearning tool if you want something that is cost effective. I found this system intuitive and easy to use and we’ve had great success with it. If it wasn’t for the tool, Slater and Gordon would be behind the times. ~ Claude Casauria, Learning and Development Facilitator, Slater and Gordon
Using Savv-e Express allowed us to work with the Savv-e team to get the first courses built. It allowed my team to see how the professionals do it – how to do the high level design, how to script it, how to create the media, as well as the basic build process. ~ Stephen Glassock, Learning and Development Manager, NSW Rural Fire Service
We have consolidated our face to face training from two days down to one and feedback from the learners has been very positive. ~ Training Manager, Tony Ferguson
My first elearning project and an excellent experience. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the Savv-e Team. ~ Belinda Jones, HR Consultant, AMP Capital Investors
Savv-e Express allows us to build eLearning content quickly and easily, and deliver it to our retail partners with minimal fuss. ~ Jamie Shaw, Consumer Product Training Manager, Canon
